Solar-powered irrigation that lowers costs

The opportunity to save on electricity is never more welcomed than these days, especially when it comes to the crisis due to emergency irrigation, such as the ones the Italian countryside needs now. Indeed, the current drought period requires extraordinary hours of irrigation to counter the very high temperatures. All of this adds to farm budgets, especially with the recent increases in energy and agricultural fuel prices.

Maltese Agriculture is a company with many years of experience in the creation and distribution of innovative systems for agriculture, in Italy and throughout the Mediterranean area.

"We design and market innovative stand-alone pumping and irrigation systems," explained Maurizio Maltese, the company's head of communications, "which are powered exclusively by high-efficiency photovoltaic panels.

The use of solar energy brilliantly combines sustainability with energy savings and, therefore, mitigates production costs.

"Through our power system," the manager continued, "it is also possible to render the water systems of one's farm independent of energy consumption, totally zeroing out electricity supply costs. Our stand-alone solar pump systems can be applied to use the multiple water needs that a farm expresses on a daily basis, regardless of the contingent emergency moment. We are talking about lifting water from wells, reservoirs or streams, but also about transferring water into reservoirs, tanks, swimming pools and, of course, feeding into irrigation, fertirrigation and pressurization systems."

Each supply of solar pump systems is conceived and developed on an individual basis, in order to provide a customized and tailor-made product that can meet the specific needs required by each individual farm, be it fruit and vegetable or livestock.

"In addition, with the help of an innovative calculation program based on the geolocation of the site, we develop systems with inverters and photovoltaic panels,” concluded Maltese

Maltese Agriculture applies advanced technology to the entire system and is able to provide the ability to manage the system entirely remotely, and if needed, take advantage of the tax credit benefits provided by the Industry 4.0 Plan. Depending on the customer's needs, submersible or surface electric pumps and, in special cases, axial propeller pumps can be used.
